This winter has been so mild. I went to the beach about a month ago on a day when it was in the 40's to replenish my stone supply. There wasn't any snow on the beach but this is what the bay looked like. Beautiful!

Who We Are

Bethany Hight, owner of Traverse Bay Shores has a Masters in Painting from California State University at Northridge and has been painting and making jewelry for a number of years. She has been inspired by the work of her father, Burton Dickerson, an abstract expressionist painter, and by our grandfather, well-known fly rod maker, and (later in life) lapidarist, Lyle Dickerson. Sarah Dickerson is her sister and a big contributor to this blog. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa’s Nonfiction Writing Program. She has published several personal essays, several about her time spent on Grand Traverse Bay (see Sarah’s blog at www.sarahvd.wordpress.com). She is a professor at Grand Valley State University where she teaches composition and writing and is currently at work on her book: a personal memoir of family history and history of place, the story of her family and their time on Old Antrim Shores, as well as the researched history of the area, in particular, the ghost town of Old Antrim City. She lives with her two daughters in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
